Are we talking ghosts and goblins?  Oh my!  We won’t go into significant detail on the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities.  It’s very rich in detail on exactly how bad guys can execute code that calls to your processor to do some damage.  Instead, we have decided to provide you with links to both Intel and AMD.  These are the makers of the two CPUs (processors) found in almost every tech device around the world.  You can read more detail from their websites which include links to O/S vendors and brand system manufacturers such as Apple and Microsoft.  This vulnerability affects servers, PCs, laptops, phones, TVs, all Apple products, routers, switches etc.   Most firmware or BIOS updates haven’t been released yet and some have even been recalled as they were found to not be sufficient.   Blue Sky IT is here to help you determine how to update and ensure things are patched up.

Clients already part of our Guardian Protection Plan will be covered for servers and routers.  Please get in touch with us if you need assistance with patching on other devices.  And if you are interested in becoming part of our GPP (Guardian Protection Plan), send us an email for details and we can provide a free assessment quote to implement it.

It should also be noted that older systems from Windows 7 back will have issues.  Anything older than Windows 7 will not be patched including Server 2008 and Server 2012.  It has also been noticed that Windows 7 systems take a performance hit and will slow down due to the required fix.
